Practical information
-
A referral from a general practitioner or another qualified medical specialist is required for treatment covered under the Dutch Health Insurance Act (Zorgverzekeringswet).
-
Nuance Practice is an uncontracted provider of specialist mental healthcare. Consultations are invoiced directly to the patient, who can subsequently submit the invoice to their health insurer for reimbursement.
The level of reimbursement depends on the individual insurance policy. Patients are advised to contact their insurer in advance to verify the expected reimbursement for uncontracted specialist mental healthcare.
-
Nuance Practice charges 100% of the applicable rates established by the Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa) under the Healthcare Performance Model (Zorgprestatiemodel). The exact fee depends on the type and duration of the consultation.
The current rates applicable to psychiatric consultations and diagnostic assessments can be found in the official NZa tariff finder. For Nuance Practice, select ‘Kwaliteitsstatuut sectie II’ and ‘Arts-specialist’.
-
Appointments are available either online via secure video consultation or in person at TACA (Therapeutische Activiteiten Centrum Amsterdam) Amsterdam, located in Amsterdam Oud-West.
-
Nuance Practice welcomes both Dutch and international patients. Consultations are available in English, Dutch, French, and Italian. Patients who are living or working in the Netherlands are welcome, provided that the legal and insurance requirements for treatment are met.
-
All personal and medical information is treated with strict confidentiality and stored securely in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR/AVG) and Dutch healthcare legislation.
-
Nuance Practice does not provide crisis or emergency services. In the event of an acute psychiatric crisis, patients are advised to contact their general practitioner, the local out-of-hours GP service, or emergency services.

Appointments may be cancelled or rescheduled free of charge up to 48 hours before the scheduled appointment. Appointments cancelled at shorter notice, or missed without prior notification, may be charged.
